One-time alarms on iPhone: a real alarm for a specific date — even if it's not on your calendar

Search “one time alarm iPhone” and you'll find the same complaint going back years: the Clock app sets alarms by time of day, not by date. Set 15:00 for tomorrow's pickup and it rings at 15:00 every day until you delete it — and when it rings, the label says “Alarm”, not what the moment was about. The usual workaround, Reminders, has the opposite flaw: it knows dates perfectly well, but it delivers a notification — and Silent mode or a Focus swallows it without a sound.

Why there's no built-in answer

iOS draws a hard line between notifications and alarms. Notifications are designed to be ignorable — that's why Reminders, Calendar alerts and every to-do app can be silenced. Alarms are designed to be unmissable — but until recently only Apple's Clock could set them, and Clock never learned dates. So the one-off moment with a date attached fell into the gap: too important for a notification, not expressible as a Clock alarm.

The fix: a real alarm with a date, a title, and a cleanup

Since iOS 26, apps can schedule the same class of system alarm as Apple's Clock (AlarmKit) — full-screen, audible through Silent and Focus, ringing until you respond.
